Technology and it's menacing burden

"What if we don't want to use a Blackberry because they are stupid and pointless?"                                                -Dwight Schrute  Season 4 - Episode 02 - The Office   Technology seems great, it makes life easier, it connects us, helps us, makes us more aware. But in the same time, it makes us less aware about our environement, it harms us through it's comfort it disconnects us with our self-awareness. but I think most of the time, we don't really see that it's driving us away from what we actually are. As humanity, we lack the ability to see things cognitively at first glance. We just suck the joy or easiness that we create around us, and when we start to suffer from our comfort zone, it's either too late or we don't care anymore so we decide to adapt. We become less, but we know more. " O ur knowledge has made us cynical. Our c...

Podcast the first

Podcasts are fun and inspiring most of the time. It can be listened to any time. In the bus, while walking, running, jogging etc.  Personally I like auditory resources. I don't need to focus on one thing when I'm working with auditory resources. Probably in the future, it would create some form of connection with my students if I ever use podcasts. I would like to touch their world of thinking as much as possible. A thinking person is a person whose mind is "tickled" before. Since tickling your students physically is kind of unethical, I would like to tickle their minds as much as possible. This post was our first attempt for a future podcast with my friend Barış Can Güvenkaya . It was fun, as he was a pair of mine who was more than able to use certain applications and open-source materials. The song " Light of the Seven" was composed by Ramin Djawadi. A genious who composes great soundtracks.

"The world is changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air"                                                                                                            -Galadriel, The Lord Of the Rings  The world we live in is vivid, there is no denying that. It has always been like that, and it will always be like this. If one wants to survive or excel, he must adapt. As everyting, the area of learning and education has changed, and it's changing rapidy even now. As we witness world's progress through the stars or it's race to a giant dumpster which wall-e had already foreseen, we -as teachers and learners- must adapt. N...

Hey Y'all

Hi Everyone,  I have always respected the empirical knowledge and it always seemed cool. This blog will be mostly about my personal experiences blended with my academic knowledge. It's always hard to be a teacher with modern assets, both physically and mentally. So I will be trying to implement everything I know with everything I see. This will be a bumpy and a hard road I believe, as teaching can be bumpy and hard. As for this exact moment, I just came from a three hour long class, with my legs and eyes drained, but the pride of teaching someone a language that can change their life is quite worth it (The real incentive is money but let's not talk about that).  I've realized we don't see many classroom environments until the last year of our college life and I think it has a major detrimental effect on our teaching prowess. It just feels like memorizing after some time and by the time we actually need the information we very much desire in a classroom, it turns out, we...
